Corona is the Virus — Capitalism is the Pandemic !

There has been one clear affirmation to come from the recent Covid-19 reality; Corona may be the virus but capitalism is the true pandemic! Essentially, capitalism is an economic system or mode of production in which the means of production (e.g. the factories, tools, equipment, machines, mineral resources, etc.) are owned and controlled by a few, the capitalist class, who live off of the labor (exploitation) of the workers for maximization of capitalist profit. Covid-19 has highlighted these inequalities as we see the rise in unemployment as the masses struggle day to day to survive. The often paraphrased saying “when the world catches a cold, African people catch the flu” is even more evident today. As the Coronavirus continues to wreak havoc and spread throughout the world, it is African people the world over who are being hit the hardest by it. The simple fact is that African people do not have adequate healthcare; and coupled with pre-existing conditions that result from years of being exploited and oppressed, they are dying faster from the virus than any other group. In Africa, the estimations are dire because the masses lack facilities, the protective equipment, and the proper care to adequately slow Covid-19 down. In the united states’ major cities, the results are the same: Africans and poor people of color are dying at a faster rate because capitalism lacks the moral compass and human morality to provide quality healthcare for all citizens. The solution is clear– capitalism must be destroyed and replaced by socialism. Socialism is an economic system that implies common ownership of the means of production, distribution and exchange. Production will be for use, and not for profit. In a socialist society, the welfare of human beings will be at the forefront of every decision, which will include but not be limited to free quality health care FOR ALL. However, for African people, the ultimate, because it is the quickest, solution is Pan-Africanism. Pan-Africanism is the total liberation and unification of Africa under an ALL- African Socialist Government. Pan-Africanism must be the primary objective of revolutionaries throughout the world because, when achieved, it will bring about the fulfilment of the aspirations of Africans throughout the world. Let us all join in this fight to kill the pandemic– capitalism!
